Trainings in companies

The Nothing's Working? program is for small and medium-size businesses, public agencies and large companies and consists of three parts:
Nothing's Working? training equips you to recognize and manage situations related to mental health problems in the workplace.
Mental illness is a trial for people who suffer from it and for those around them and is also harmful to companies. It has a heavy financial cost. Adjusted for the size of a company, a single case of depression equals around 40 missed days of work or $10,000 (Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health, July 20, 2000). Almost 50% of absences from work are related to mental illness, a growing problem that has to be met head-on (Institut national de santé publique du Québec, 2008). In Canada, almost 600,000 employees reported having received a diagnosis of clinical depression (Ipsos Reid, Mental Health in the Workplace, 2007).
Unfortunately, the costs are not limited to absenteeism. In fact, many people who suffer from mental illness remain at work a long time before being treated, and their productivity drops, they make more errors, they are late on projects, etc. These costs are difficult to calculate, but they are very real.
Nothing's Working?, the program for prevention and recognition of symptoms of mental illness in the workplace, is part of the solution.
Prevention begins with knowledge. By offering this program, the Foundation is taking position as an active partner that helps companies handle a problem that is increasingly affecting their human capital.
Mental illness is a growing social problem: people are increasingly affected by it and adults are no exception. In 2020, according to the estimates of the World Health Organization (WHO), depression will become the second cause of disability in the world, right after heart disease (WHO 2001).
Taboos, often related to a misunderstanding of mental illness, prevent people from seeking help. And yet, if symptoms of mental illness are recognized quickly, the person does not suffer as long. The Foundation believes that it is its duty to inform adults where they are, i.e. in the workplace, to direct them to existing resources. Nothing's Working? is a complete program that informs employees about depression and its symptoms and that trains managers and peer helpers to identify mental illness among colleagues or employees and to take action to avoid the worst.
