Report on the 2007 edition of the Emotions Ball

Dr. Yves Lamontagne, President of the Collège des médecins du Québec and Founding President of the Foundation, Denise Robert and Denys Arcand, honorary chairpersons of the 3rd Emotions Ball, Nicole Allard, Executive Director of the Foundation and Jocelyne Monty, President of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

On October 4, 2007, the Mental Illness Foundation held the 3rd edition of its Emotions Ball at Place Bonaventure, with 700 members from the business community in attendance. Presided over by honorary chairpersons Denise Robert and Denys Arcand and hosted by Christopher Hall, this grand ball allowed the Foundation to raise $1 million for its various programs and services.

With the pearl as its theme, this spectacular evening gave the Foundation the opportunity to address business people through emotional testimonials attesting to the Foundation’s current and past actions and the urgency to act. During this gastronomical dinner, representatives of the Foundation also presented a few of its projects, including the planned Centre de promotion et d’amélioration de la santé mentale and a prevention program for seniors. The evening ended with a performance by singer Gino Vannelli, followed by the rhythms of the Boogie Wonder Band that had everyone out on the dance floor.

The Mental Illness Foundation would like to thank everyone who, directly or indirectly, contributed to making this magnificent evening a success. Our thanks go out to all participants for their support. We would also like to thank our financial partners, our generous sponsors and donors, without whom the Emotions Ball would not be possible. Thank you to Guy Latraverse, his team and the invited artists for the show. Our thanks also go to everyone who contributed to the videos that were presented. And last but not least, thanks to our volunteers who helped us make this evening truly magnificent. Thank you for helping the Foundation to relieve some of the suffering of people with mental illness and their families.
