Event description:

The members of the organizing committee of the 20th edition of the Foundation's golf tournament: Donald Bastien, chairperson of the organizing committee, Roch L. Dubé, honorary chairperson and President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Nordiq Inc., Réal Bellemare, Jacques Lalonde, Yvon Lafrenière, Jean Brosseau and Wilfrid Hénault. They are accompanied by Jocelyne Monty, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
The Mental Illness Foundation holds its annual golf tournament in June. Since 1991, on gorgeous sunny days (it has never rained on the day of the Foundation’s tournament!), more than 240 golfers gathered for a little friendly competition.
Since the very first tournament was held, its organizing committee has been chaired by Donald Bastien, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of CTV Montreal. He has been assisted by five members from the Foundation’s Board of Directors and committed volunteers, including Yvon Lafrenière, who has been involved since the very beginning.
Generously supported by Bell, the tournament has been held for many years at one of the oldest clubs in North America, the Elm Ridge Country Club in Île Bizard. The two breathtaking 18-hole championship courses welcome golfers who are mostly the presidents and executives of the province’s major corporations.

Players are received in the morning with a brunch. After their round of golf, they are invited to attend a dinner during which they can take part in a silent auction. There are also door prizes to be won. Following the meal, an English auction concluded this event, with valuable golf packages, works of arts and various luxury items offered for sale. It’s an opportunity to spend a pleasant day while lending a helping hand to people with mental illness.
The funds raised by the tournament increase year over year. In 2009, $215,000 was raised. In the last few years, these funds have gone toward financing the Partners for Life program.
