The Mental Illness Foundation is recruiting English schools for Partners For Life’s program

Montreal, October 19th 2016 - Partners For Lifeis anevidence-based large scale outreach program with the mission to raise awareness on teen depression. It isoffered to youth aged 14 years and older throughout the province of Quebec and in the Ottawa region.

Why raise awareness about depression among high school students?

Studies have shown that the first episodes of depression occur primarily in the teenage years. Therefore, it is why it’s important to act as early on as possible. Since depression is reversible, we have the power to help our youth. The objectives of the program are to demystify mental illness in order to break down stigmas, promote healthy lifestyle choices, inform about the distress signals associated with teen depression, and the steps to help someone and finally, to promote the resources available in the community.

The Mental Illness Foundation offers this turnkey program, which lasts approximately one class period, free of charge. We have a team of young and dynamic presenters ready to visit schools. For a more holistic approach, the Foundation also offer workshops for parents and teachers. Tested and recognized by the medical community, the Mental Illness Foundation would like as many Anglophone youths to benefit from this program as possible. Over the course of the past 18 years, we have proudly reached over 1,000,000 teenagers and adults across Quebec and the Ottawa region in both French and English. This extraordinary accomplishment would not have been possible without the interest and commitment of english schools and school boards.

Together, let’s change attitudes and behaviors towards mental illness. Let’s ensure that your students become part of a generation that is better informed, better equipped, and more open.

Dates are still available in October, November and December. Book us now!
